91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Kicks Off the New Year with Scholarships 101 Information Night

VANCOUVER, Wash – Start your New Year right and get a jumpstart on the college financial aid process by attending Washington State University Vancouver’s Scholarships 101 at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 2 in the Dengerink Administration building, room 110. The event is free to the public and free parking will be available in Orange 1 lot.

The Scholarships 101 workshop is intended as a jumping-off point for all college-bound students no matter their age, current financial situation or school they plan to attend. The workshop will cover where to find the best scholarships, how to write award-winning essays and offer helpful tips from prior scholarship recipients.

Deadlines for scholarships vary, but those interested are encouraged to apply early. The workshop will cover the priority deadlines for university scholarships as well as the deadlines for many statewide scholarships.

Seventy-five percent of 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø students receive some form of financial aid, grant or scholarship. Last year, the 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø campus awarded more than $1,000,000 in scholarship and tuition waiver awards to upwards of 300 students. The average award was $3,500. In the 2011/2012 academic year, $256,000 in scholarships was awarded.
