VANCOUVER, Wash.—The Associated Students of Washington State University Vancouver is still accepting applications for the 10th annual "Coug Day at the Capitol" trip, scheduled for Feb. 11-13.
The weekend in Olympia will conclude with a banquet with state politicians and prominent leaders. The goal for 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø students this year is to "make lawmakers aware of student issues and needs, to increase 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø's visibility within the community and with legislators and to introduce students to the legislative process," said Stacey Johnson, director of Legislative Affairs for 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø ASWSUV.
Students will have the opportunity to meet with their representatives in Olympia and voice their concerns, as well as attend various workshop seminars that pertain to government practices.
To be eligible for the trip students must complete a short application, available at the 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Student Involvement Office, Library Rm 12, and return it by Friday (Jan. 27). A review committee will then contact those who have been selected to attend. Attendees will pay some meal costs, while accommodation costs will be covered by ASWSUV.
