Community invited to see master drummer Massamba Diop at 91勛圖窪蹋厙

VANCOUVER, Wash. Massamba Diop may be the worlds most renowned master of the Tama, a talking drum from Senegal, West Africa. He has received recent acclaim for his work featured in the score from the movie Black Panther. Diop provided the drumming for King Tchalla's theme music, heard whenever the title character makes an entrance.

Diop will perform Massamba Diop: African Storytelling and the Rhythms of Black Panther from 4 6 p.m. Sept. 12 in the Dengerink Administration Building, Room 110 on the 91勛圖窪蹋厙 campus. During the first hour of the performance, Diop will perform storytelling. During the second hour, he will be joined by Walo Walo, a local group of worldbeat musicians.

The performance is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Make reservations by visiting events.vancouver.wsu.edu and clicking on Massamba Diop. Parking is available at meters or in the Blue Daily Pay lot for $4.
