Costco's Sheri Flies Addresses "Creating a Sustainable Business Landscape" at 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Sheri Flies, assistant general merchandising manager of Costco Corporate Foods, will speak at Washington State University Vancouver's MBA Social Issues in Business Speaker Series. Flies will talk about business ethics, codes of conduct and sustainability efforts in her presentation, "Creating a Sustainable Business Landscape." The lecture will be held Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Administration building, room 110.

Flies has been involved in Costco's sustainability efforts for more than 15 years. She is Costco's representative to the Sustainable Food Lab, an international group representing the diverse participants in food supply chains.

Flies also participated in the internationally recognized Juan Francisco Project, which assessed the sustainability of the existing supply chain for French Beans in Guatemala and determined how it affects the lives of farmers and their families.

91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø's MBA Social Issues in Business Series brings business leaders to campus once a semester to discuss social issues in business with faculty, students and community members. Admission to the Social Issues in Business Speaker Series is free, and the event is open to the public. Parking is available at parking meters or in the Blue Daily Pay lot for $3.
