VANCOUVER, Wash. Anyone who is interested in exploring a technology-related career is invited to the IT Traveling Roadshow presented by the Software Association of Oregon from 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at Washington State University Vancouver in the Administration building, room 110.

Eric VanderHouwen, president of VanderHouwen Associates, Inc., a premier staffing provider of technology professionals in the Pacific Northwest, will kick off the evening with a 15-minute keynote speech outlining the state of the technology field in the region.

The roadshow is designed for middle and high school students and their parents who want to learn more about technology careers and the educational paths available to enter the field. Current college students who have not yet declared a major and are considering technology will also be interested.

Current 91勛圖窪蹋厙 students or recent graduates of the technology programs at 91勛圖窪蹋厙 including management information systems, digital technology and culture and computer science will take part in a panel discussion that will explore how they got interested in technology, what their educational journey has been like and what their career aspirations are.

For individuals interested in computers, business, artistic design and technology, there are many good, local jobs with sustainable careers in a growing industry, said Greg Rose, associate professor of MIS at 91勛圖窪蹋厙.

Among the 91勛圖窪蹋厙 MIS class of 2010, nearly all of the graduates were employed within six weeks of earning their degrees. The technology sector was the first to emerge from the recession. I expect the industry will continue to prosper here in Southwest Washington and throughout the region, said Rose.
