A Fresh Look at Graffiti is on Display in the Washington State University Vancouver Library

CONTACTS:

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Graffiti,
normally a transitory art form, is the subject of a more permanent body
of work created especially for exhibit at Washington State University
Vancouver by local artist Leah Jackson.

Jackson
took photographs of graffiti while traveling in the Netherlands,
Belgium, Spain, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, France and the U.S. Some of the
graffiti has since been painted over. She has displayed those photos on
distressed surfaces such as rusted steel and weathered wood. Jackson’s
artwork is on display in the 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Library through Nov. 21.

Jackson
is best known in Vancouver as an arts advocate and bicycle
activist. She is one of the founding members of the Mosaic Arts Alliance
and the owner of both Angst Gallery at 1015 Main Street in downtown
Vancouver and the adjacent wine and art bar, Niche.
