Growing University Welcomes Ten New Faculty Members for Fall 2007

Vancouver, Wash. - As part of continuing growth plans, Washington State University Vancouver is adding ten new faculty members this fall. In alphabetical order, they are:

George Fletcher, fletcher@vancouver.wsu.edu, 360/546-9252, assistant professor of computer science, previously with Indiana University, Bloomington, Ind., with research interest in core problems in data management.

Ginny Guido, guido@vancouver.wsu.edu, 360/546-9244, assistant dean and regional director of nursing program, most recently from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, N.D.

Edward Hagen, hagen@vancouver.wsu.edu, 360/546-925, assistant professor of anthropology, most recently from Humboldt-Universitaet zu Berlin, Germany, with research interest in biosocial approaches to mental health emphasizing political, economic and social dimensions of clinical depression and child growth in Amazonia; addiction; conceptual foundations of evolutionary biology and their application to human cognition behavior.

Stephen Henderson, hendeste@vancouver.wsu.edu, 360/546-9268 assistant professor of environmental geophysics, most recently from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego, Calif., with research interest in marine sediment transport and coastal hydrodynamics.

Thabiti Lewis, lewist@vancouver.wsu.edu, 360/546-9256, assistant professor of English, most recently from Willamette University, Portland, Ore., where he chaired the American Ethnic studies program. Current research and teaching interests are 20th century American literature, specializing in African-American literature.

Rebecca Portnoy, portnoy@vancouver.wsu.edu, 360/546-9258, assistant professor of management, most recently from the University of Washington in Seattle, with research interest in self-perception and self-presentation of employees.
