VANCOUVER, Wash. - Washington State University Vancouver will host Financial Aid 101 on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. in the Administration building, room 110. The event is free to the public and free parking will be available in Orange 1 lot.
Financial Aid 101 is designed to be useful to everyone interested in learning how financial aid can help pay for college, regardless of which college or university a student plans to attend. The course will cover what financial aid is, how to apply for it and how to access the money once it is awarded.
The College Board estimates students received $162.5 billion in financial aid in the 2007-08 school year. Federal grants, loans and work-study programs accounted for 59 percent of all aid given in the 2007-08 year. Institutional grants were the second largest contributor at 18 percent and non-federal loans came in third at 12 percent.
