Vancouver, Wash. - On Saturday, July 22, professionals involved in the writing of computer code will attend a unique type of annual community event all about software developers and the code they create. Portland Code Camp v2.0 takes place this year on the campus of Washington State University Vancouver, which will help grow the event by extending out into more software communities over a greater region. The event was originally scheduled to be held over a two-day period, but the event producers have been successful in concentrating the sessions into a single day.
"Code Camp"-a place for software developers to come and learn from their peers-is about the developer community at large. The content is community-driven, and presentation topics are never determined by anyone other than the community. All content delivered is original and is presented by volunteers from the development community who wish to share their unique knowledge and experience with their peers. All presentation content is provided to attendees in its entirety (including code) without any restrictions for use.
Code Camp is the only event that is inclusive of the entire developer community and is not intended for an exclusive audience whose interests are specific to a particular programming language or manufacturer's line of software. Developers are encouraged to attend regardless of their technological orientation or level of experience-from hobbyist to enterprise development, from Java to .NET to Open Source Software.
The list of contributing presenters currently includes Microsoft, Corillian Corporation, Portland Area .NET User Group, Washington State University, Software Association of Oregon SIG and many others. Developers from the community who wish to present may submit their ideas for session topics online at .
The rules of submission are as follows: (1) No duplicates (requests to present topics are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Prospective presenters will wish to visit the sessions list at to see whether their topic is already being covered); (2) No direct advertising allowed - presenters may not use the event as a forum at which to market their products and/or services; (3) Share the code: if you can't share the code, don't show it at Code Camp. The whole point is for people to be able to learn and apply what they've learned to their future development efforts.
Attendance at Portland Code Camp v2.0 is free of charge, but space is limited. Those wishing to attend may register online at . 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205, and offers 14 bachelor's and nine master's degrees in more than 35 fields of study.
