VANCOUVER, Wash. – Gay Selby, faculty member in the College of Education at Washington State University Vancouver, was recently recognized with the Faculty/Staff Outstanding Volunteer Service Award from the WSU Foundation. This award recognizes extraordinary sustained volunteer service on behalf of the WSU Foundation and WSU. Selby was presented with the award at the WSU Foundation Board of Trustees meeting in Pullman, Wash. at the end of September.
The 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Development and Alumni Relations team nominated Selby for the award for her diehard Cougar spirit and the countless hours she volunteers to further WSU and 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø.
Selby is a WSU alumna and has been an educator in Washington state for more than 50 years. She served on the 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Site Selection committee in the 1990s and was the first chair of the 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Advisory Council.
After a long and distinguished career in K-12 education, Selby joined the 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø College of Education faculty in 1991. She is proud of the more than 200 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø principal program alumni she has worked with. She keeps in touch with them and follows their careers with joy.
Selby cares about the success of WSU from the academic programs to its sports teams. She is a season football ticket holder and has given to the WSU Foundation at the President’s Associate level for 22 years. Selby is always willing to lend a hand with a new initiative. Whenever a dedicated Cougar is needed, Selby is on speed dial!
