Vancouver, Wash. - With a month of their first semester of college under their belts, the first freshmen to attend Washington State University Vancouver are among the area's best and brightest, said Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Nancy Youlden.
"Our freshmen class very much mirrors the freshmen class at the main campus in Pullman," said Youlden. "Students are choosing our campus because of the quality education, access to faculty, and the welcoming environment."
Statistics from the class of 157 freshman students include:
- Average high school grade point average, 3.52
- Average age, 18 years
- 55% female, 45% male
- 15.9% minorities
The popular academic majors among the first year students are biology, business and mechanical engineering.
"We are extremely pleased with the quality and diversity of our freshman class," said Youlden. "In a survey of our incoming freshmen, over 40% of our new students applied to 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø only. Based on their solid academic record, it is clear that these students had other four-year choices and they selected Washington State University Vancouver."
91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø offers 14 Bachelor's degrees, 9 Master's degrees and 1 Doctorate degree and more than 35 fields of study. The campus is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205. Visit us on the Web at
