VANCOUVER, Wash. - Photographer Linda Butler will present "A Photographer's Eight Journeys to China's Yangtze River" on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. at Washington State University Vancouver in the Undergraduate Classroom building, room 1. Her presentation chronicles the eight trips she made to China between 2000 and 2003 to capture the construction of the Three Gorges Dam, the largest hydroelectric dam in the world.

The Three Gorges Dam and reservoir's construction displaced more than 1.2 million people and flooded 13 cities, 140 towns and 1,350 villages. Factories, mines and waste dumps were submerged under the 600 kilometer-long reservoir. Butler captured people, architecture and landscapes to show before-and-after photos of the river and surrounding area.

Butler's lecture is accompanied by a photo exhibit that is available for viewing now through Dec. 11 in the Administration building gallery.

Both the lecture and exhibit are free and open to the public. 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø art galleries are open from 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday. Admission is free. Parking is available at parking meters or in the Blue Daily Pay lot for $3.
