Vancouver, Wash. - Students at Washington State University Vancouver can now listen to music and hear important announcements about campus activities on the new online student radio station, KOUG.

Eric Toews, volunteer general manager of KOUG and full-time Public Affairs major, is pleased to bring the local station to fellow students.

"We hope to bring the campus closer together, to build more Cougar identity for the campus," said Toews. "Right now we are mostly pre-recorded, but we're working on recruiting more student volunteers so we can add some live shifts. Once we do, we hope to add such features political chats and student requests."

Students, staff and faculty can tune in to KOUG online at , where they can also e-mail announcements to the station staff. The call letters reflect a past plan to take the station to the AM airwaves, not possible on the station's current budget, but perhaps in the future, Toews said.

Toews also said that plans are in place to air the station inside of the new Firstenburg Student Commons.
