VANCOUVER, Wash. – The College of Business at Washington State University Vancouver held its seventh annual professional sales competition along with a professional sales career fair Dec. 2 at 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø. Six students will advance to sales competitions in California and Georgia.
Twenty students competed in sales presentation role plays. Buyers and judges were sales professionals from the Portland/Vancouver area. Shaynne Goodwin and Marc Jackson were the top two performers and will represent 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø at the National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC) in Kennesaw, Ga. in March 2012. 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø students have participated in the completion for the past six years. The Cougar team from Vancouver brought home the NCSC championship in 2007. In 2011 the team reached the quarter finals. Goodwin and Jackson also won Herman Miller office chairs provided by Workplace Resource of Oregon.
Four more top performers, Alina Ciot, Kilen Murphy, Carrie Shinn and Chad Van Dyke, will compete in the Western States Collegiate Sales Competition (WSCSC) in Chico, Calif. in April 2012. Last year was the first time 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø competed at the WSCSC. The team took second place and team member, Yan Doroshkin, won first place in the individual competition.
The sales competition was sponsored by Consolidated Electrical Distributors, Workplace Resource of Oregon and Zones, Inc.
The sales competition was accompanied by the third annual Meet the Firms: Professional Sales Career Fair. The career fair provided businesses with an opportunity to scout the up-and-coming sales talent. It was also a chance for corporate representatives to share their enthusiasm for a career in professional sales and help 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø students gain a more in-depth understanding of sales as a career field.
Companies that participated in the day included ADP, Airgas, CampusPoint, Cintas, Comcast Spotlight, Con-way Multimodal, Country Financial, Enterprise, Evolve Guest Controls, Fastenal, FirstCommand, Frito-Lay, Geary Pacific Supply, Mass Mutual, Nautilus, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Pedigo, Pinpoint Sales Group, Pfizer and Safetec.
