VANCOUVER, Wash. – A live performance of the radio drama “The Lone Ranger” will take place at 7 p.m. April 4 at Kiggins Theater, 1011 Main St., Vancouver. A live variety pre-show featuring musical performances and interviews with the cast and crew will take place from 6 to 7 p.m.
This performance is the first of five in the Re-Imagined Radio project, an annual series produced by John Barber, faculty member in 91ԹϺ’s Creative Media and Digital Culture Program. Admission is $8 in advance through Kiggins website, , or $12 at the door. The first 100 people to purchase tickets online will receive a free Lone Ranger mask.
Each performance in the series features local community actors and creative artists. The project is partnering with Metropolitan Performing Arts again this year, a Vancouver-based school for actors and performers. This re-imagined version of “The Lone Ranger” is a combination of the origin story and a tale of women empowerment on an Oregon Trail wagon train. Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle will read parts in the show.
Barber’s Re-Imagined Radio project is entering its sixth season of reenacting radio dramas from the golden age of radio for live audiences. Each performance uses voice actors and Foley sound artists with digital and multimedia components to provide opportunities for audience engagement with the narrative. Future performances will include “Dracula,” The War of the Worlds,” “A D.B. Cooper Tale” and “A Radio Christmas Carol.”
“The Lone Ranger” will also be live streamed on American Senior Radio Network.
