VANCOUVER, Wash. - Washington State University Vancouver Chancellor Hal Dengerink received the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District VIII Leadership Award in recognition of his many achievements as a visionary and successful leader. The ceremony on Friday, Feb. 20, was held in Seattle.

Dengerink serves as a catalyst for the university's growth, adding high-tech programs and expanding undergraduate enrollment in fall 2006-making 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø the only full-fledged four year institution in Southwest Washington.

"Several people taught me that the most important principle is: do what is best for the organization or institution you are serving-not what serves you best," said Dengerink.

The CASE District VIII Leadership Award honored Dengerink's outstanding hard work in promoting understanding and support for education by creating a vision for 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø and inspiring others to join in that vision. His positive image for the university successfully led 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø through challenging times, while increasing the institution's stature in the community and its educational services within it.

"The story of Washington State University Vancouver, as part of the WSU system, is by any measure a success story and Hal's leadership and dedication to its creation and development cannot be overstated," said Bruce Romanish, the vice chancellor of academic affairs.

91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø is located at 14204 NE Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205, or via C-Tran bus service. We offer 16 bachelor's degrees, nine master's degrees, one doctorate degree and more than 36 fields of study. Visit us on the Web at
