VANCOUVER, Wash. – Thirty colleges and universities from across the country are expected to participate in the LGBTQA-friendly College Fair from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 25 in Washington State University Vancouver’s Firstenburg Student Commons.
The fair provides an occasion for LGBTQ students and allies to learn about post-secondary academic opportunities, student life and campus safety, while connecting with LGBTQA-friendly colleges. Attendees can meet admissions counselors and financial aid representatives and learn about LGBTQA resources and programs.
The program includes a Financial Aid 101 workshop at 1 p.m. and a panel at 2 p.m. with current college students who will share their perspectives on what it means to be an LGBTQ student. Student ambassadors from 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø will give campus tours every half hour beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Prospective students, family members and others planning to attend the fair are not required to sign up but may do so through Campus Pride at campuspride.org/collegefair/.
The event is free and open to the public. It is one of the first such college fairs in the Pacific Northwest.
