91ԹϺ and Kiggins Theatre present a live radio performance featuring local celebrities

Superman posterVANCOUVER, Wash. – A live radio show connecting the golden age of Superman with contemporary issues facing Vancouver will be performed at 7 p.m. June 18 at the Kiggins Theatre. The event is free and open to the public.

“The Golden Age of Superman Live Radio Show” tells the story of Superman’s choice to retire from his work fighting crime and saving the city of Metropolis to pursue a new dream. It is a collaboration between Kiggins Theatre and Washington State University Vancouver’s Creative Media and Digital Culture program featuring prominent community members as the leading characters:

  • Al Angelo Company Owner Albert Angelo III as Lex Luthor
  • The Columbian Editor Lou Brancaccio as Perry White
  • Director of the CMDC program Dene Grigar as Lois Lane
  • Community Leader Pat Jollata as Ma Kent
  • Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt as Superman
  • mainDISTINCTION Owner and Community Leader Jim Mains as Jimmy Olsen

The show will also feature CMDC students from the summer Digital Storytelling class taught by John Barber, CMDC faculty member. In addition to participating in the show itself, students will present digital media stories to increase audience engagement and provide a deeper understanding of the Superman mythos.

This show is the creation of Barber and Wyatt who say it is an experiment into producing live radio with a community mindset focused around the Vancouver area.

Doors for this performance open at 6 p.m. Concessions, beer and wine will be available for purchase. The Kiggins Theatre is located at 1011 Main Street, Vancouver, Wash.
