VANCOUVER, Wash. Washington State University Vancouvers Center for Social and Environmental Justice will present environmental health expert Kate Davies at 2:50 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Undergraduate Building, Room 125. Her lecture The U.S. Environmental Health Movement: Strategies and Successes, is free and open to the public.
Davies wrote The Rise of the U.S. Environmental Health Movement. It is the first book to tell the story of the U.S. environmental health movement, which focuses on preventing the effects of toxic chemicals and other hazardous agents in the environment on human health and well-being. In the book, Davies describes the movements historical, ideological and cultural roots, and analyzes its organizations, strategies and successes.
Davies has been an environmental health activist for 35 years. She is a clinical associate professor at the University of Washington, core faculty at Antioch University Seattle and a trainer at the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice.
