VANCOUVER, Wash. - Students and faculty at Washington State University Vancouver will present a showcase of their research, scholarship and artwork at the seventh annual Research Showcase. Almost 100 posters and exhibits of research projects, digital artwork and scholarly publications will be on display throughout the day. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. April 15 in the Firstenburg Student Commons. The event is free and open to the public.
91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø is a nationally recognized research university with a dynamic and growing faculty conducting research and pursuing scholarship of regional, national and international impact.
"The Research Showcase is an interactive day of research poster and oral presentations, and invited research addresses. Faculty, graduate and undergraduate students will share their collaborative research which emanates from the programs and laboratories of the campus and through interactions in Southwest Washington on community-relevant topics. Exciting new findings and advances in fields including: environmental sciences, neurosciences, engineering, anthropology and education, among many others, will be presented," said Bob Bates, director of research and graduate education.
Terry Oliver, chief technology innovation officer for Bonneville Power Administration, will give the keynote address "Innovation vs. Insulation-Energy Innovation in the Pacific Northwest" at noon in the Administration building, room 129/130. Oliver led the creation of BPA's first public and formal research agenda, has tripled BPA's investment in research and development, and transformed BPA's executive and staff engagement in defining and managing a research portfolio.
An awards ceremony and reception will be held from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in the Firstenburg Student Commons.
Graduate and undergraduate student history research oral presentations will wrap up the day from 6 - 8:45 p.m. in the Library, room 240.
