VANCOUVER, Wash. – Washington State University Vancouver’s 10th annual sales competition put 34 students in front of 53 sales professionals who served as judges and “buyers” in face-to-face competitive role plays. The top 10 competitors are:
- Alex Anderson, senior majoring in marketing
- Samantha Bennett, senior majoring in business administration
- Nick Gaeth, senior majoring in psychology
- Shane Hyland, senior, majoring in social sciences
- Nicci Johnson, senior majoring in business administration
- Derek Kemppainen, senior majoring in marketing
- Eric Lambert, an alumnus returning for sales courses
- Chris Miller, senior majoring in marketing
- Mike Scheel, senior majoring in business administration
- Emily Vis, a junior majoring in marketing
The top two competitors, Gaeth and Miller, won classic Herman Miller Aeron chairs provided by the founding sponsor of the competition, Workplace Resource of Oregon.
Miller and Vis will represent 91ԹϺ at the National Collegiate Sales Competition at Kennesaw State University, in Kennesaw, Ga. next April.
Anderson, Brianda Contreras, a junior majoring in marketing, Johnson and Kemppainen will represent 91ԹϺ at the Western States Collegiate Sales Competition at Chico State University in Chico, Calif. in April.
Two students won scholarships through the competition. Chelsea Brown, a senior majoring in business administration, received a $1,000 Pacific Office Automation Scholarship. Kemppainen received a $2,000 Carson College of Business Professional Sales Program Scholarship.
Two students won Sales Career Potential cash awards. Randy Kadow, a senior majoring in business administration, received $500 from Tom James Clothiers. Mike Ross, a junior majoring in digital technology and culture, won $500 from Nautilus.
The sales completion was held on the 91ԹϺ campus Nov. 21. For the past three years, the Carson College of Business Professional Sales Program at 91ԹϺ has been named among of the Top 50 collegiate sales programs in the United States by the Sales Education Foundation.
