91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Vice Chancellor Recognized for Contributions to Campus Safety

Vancouver, Wash.—Lynn Valenter, Washington State University Vancouver Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operations, has been named as the recipient of the 2006 WSU Environmental Health and Safety Leadership Award.

The award is the highest recognition given by the university's Office of Environmental Health and Safety. It recognizes outstanding accomplishments of individuals and campus safety committees directed toward making WSU campuses safer and healthier.

Valenter said she felt "very honored" to be selected. "Safety is an imperative and serious responsibility that we all share," she said. "WSU has really shown leadership in a variety of safety-related areas. I appreciate that this award continues to acknowledge the importance of safety to the faculty and staff at 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø."

Valenter will receive the award Oct. 3 at a health safety conference at the WSU main campus in Pullman, Wash. WSU Provost Robert Bates and Rich Heath, Senior Associate Vice President for Business Affairs, will present the award, established in 2002 to honor an individual who has made significant contributions toward making environmental health and safety an integral part of WSU.
