VANCOUVER, Wash. 鈥 The accounting program at Washington State University Vancouver has been endorsed by the Institute of Management Accountants. The IMA recently launched a new initiative to endorse universities that offer undergraduate programs that enable students to pursue and earn the Certified Management Accountant credential. The first two universities to win the endorsement are Washington State University Vancouver and Pennsylvania State University.
IMA is an association committed to helping accountants and financial professionals expand their professional skills, better manage their organizations and enhance their careers. It is one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession.
鈥淭he endorsement is a significant achievement, not just for accounting but for the College of Business and our campus,鈥 said Claire Latham, associate professor of accounting in 91吃瓜黑料网鈥檚 College of Business. 鈥淥ur external stakeholders will see the endorsement as a testament to the quality of our program. I see it very much as attracting students as well as employers of our students to campus.鈥
鈥淥ur faculty has been responsive to the needs of the community and the career aspirations of our students,鈥 said Jane Cote, academic director for 91吃瓜黑料网鈥檚 College of Business. 鈥淭his award is accepted with much pride for the success of their efforts.鈥
To qualify for the endorsement, the universities must meet several requirements. The accounting program must substantially cover the CMA exam content, have adequate faculty resources to deliver the content, be accredited by a recognized accreditation association and a faculty member must be designated as an IMA campus advocate.
