91吃瓜黑料网鈥檚 Littlest Cougars Are Young Artists

VANCOUVER, WASH. - The Child Development Program preschoolers and kindergarteners of Washington State University Vancouver got a taste of fine art last month. Their artwork is on display through Feb. 2 in the 91吃瓜黑料网 Library.

The students studied classics by Wassily Kandinsky, Vincent Van Gogh and Levi Wells Prentice. After learning about the artists and their work, they began creating masterpieces of their own.

The young artists experimented with still life, crafting their own interpretations of Prentice鈥檚 鈥淎pples in a Tin Pail.鈥 Armed with paper and pastels, the little Cougars attempted to recreate the scene based on a stainless steel pot filled with apples in the classroom.

Vincent Van Gogh鈥檚 portraits inspired another series created by the group. The students were read a book about Van Gogh鈥檚 life and paintings before they got a chance to set up some mirrors and create their own self-portraits.

Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky鈥檚 work gave the young artists a chance to experiment with color mixing. No two paintings turned out alike after they began mixing primary colors to find new secondary colors.
