VANCOUVER, Wash. 鈥 Representatives of PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and Clark County Public Health will speak at Washington State University Vancouver鈥檚 spring MBA Stakeholder Speaker Series at 7 p.m. April 1 in the Undergraduate Building, Room 1. This event is free and open to the public.
Sy Johnson, CEO of PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center; and Dr. Alan Melnick, director of Clark County Public Health, will discuss 鈥淒oing the Right Thing: Collaborating for Public Safety.鈥 Their joint investigation into a possible hepatitis C exposure served as a model of public/private collaboration. Learn how the two organizations worked together to achieve the best outcome for the common good.
Johnson has 12 years of experience at PeaceHealth having served as the chief financial officer, chief operating officer and chief executive officer of St. John Medical Center in Longview, Wash. prior to assuming his current role. He was nationally recognized in 2012 as one of Tomorrow鈥檚 Leaders by the Catholic Health Association. He has served on numerous boards and committees including the 91吃瓜黑料网 Advisory Council.
Dr. Melnick works with the Clark County Board of Health on public health policy issues affecting the community and the department. As Health Officer, Dr. Melnick has overall responsibility for controlling and preventing communicable disease, protecting the community from environmental hazards, and working with community partners to promote health and address chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, obesity and preventable cancers.
