VANCOUVER, Wash. – Learn how to pay for college at Washington State University Vancouver’s A – Z of Financial Aid and Scholarships Workshop offered multiple times through the end of the year. Free and open to the public, this workshop is a jumping-off point for all college-bound students no matter their age, current financial situation or school they plan to attend.
Workshops will be offered:
- 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25, Student Services Center, room 101
- 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Oct. 12, Dengerink Administration building, room 110 (this workshop is part of Preview Day, which starts at 1 p.m.)
- 6 – 7 p.m. Oct. 22, Student Services Center, room 101
- 7 – 8 p.m. Nov. 13, Dengerink Administration building, room 110 (this workshop is part of Preview Day, which starts at 5:30 p.m.)
- 5 – 6 p.m. Dec. 3, Student Services Center, room 101
- 1 – 2 p.m. Dec. 14, Vancouver Community Library (main) on C Street
Led by trained financial aid experts, the A – Z of Financial Aid and Scholarships Workshop increases financial aid awareness and makes clear the readily available options for paying for college. The workshop will answer commonly asked questions such as: What is financial aid? What happens after I file my FAFSA? Are there any scholarships available? When and how do I get my money?
April Tovar, financial aid and scholarships manager, views the workshop as an opportunity to increase the community’s knowledge of financial aid processes.
“Many students and families are confused by financial aid and may even opt out of choosing a college path because they do not realize there are many different routes to paying for a college education,” said Tovar. “Our workshop explores the different choices students have and how financial aid works at all institutions. The more families understand the process, the better educated decisions they can make when trying to determine what fits best for them or their student.”
