
TRiO Talent Search Program
The TRiO Talent Search program helps middle and high school students plan and prepare for college. Sponsored by 91³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø and funded through the U.S. Department of Education, the program provides free academic support and career counseling for low income and first-generation students at partnering Vancouver-area schools.
Our staff organizes presentations, workshops, and activities to support and encourage students to graduate from high school and reach their college and career-related goals.

Free services:
- Advising to help students choose the right classes for college
- Tutoring in high school subjects (such as Math or English)
- SAT and ACT test preparation
- Help with college applications and the admissions process
- Support with scholarship applications and financial aid forms
- College tours and cultural field trips throughout Washington
- College exploration (advice about majors, dual enrollment)
- Career planning and advice
- Workshops about time management, decision-making, and study skills
Benefits of completing the program:
- Earn a competitive GPA
- Achieve college-ready ACT and SAT test scores
- Graduate from high-school on-time
- Enter college after high-school graduation
- Graduate with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree six years after graduation
You may qualify if you:
- Attend one of the following schools: Fort Vancouver High School, Hudson’s Bay High School, Discovery Middle School or McLoughlin Middle School
- Are between the ages of 13 and 19
- Agree to participate in program activities until high school graduation
- Demonstrate academic need and show an interest in attending college
- Identify as a low-income or first-generation student (parent(s) do not have a bachelor’s degree)
