About the Presenter

Susie Masecar

Susie Masecar is a third-year PhD student with Jonah Piovia-Scott in the School of Biological Sciences. Susie’s dissertation focuses on comparative pathophysiology of emerging infectious diseases of amphibians. She is broadly interested in investigating how cellular processes scale to the ecosystem level and exploring how that knowledge can be utilized to advance wildlife conservation. Prior to joining WSU, Susie served as an exotic animal veterinarian. After completing her dissertation, Susie aims to continue performing conservation-oriented disease research. She enjoys seeking out mountain views, collecting pottery, and gawking at big trees.
